ABOUT Mapleton Family Dental
Our Story: Committed to Care & Community
Dr. Samantha Seys took over the practice from Dr. Jeff Taylor in the fall of 2016, proudly continuing the high standard of care and strong focus on prevention that patients had come to trust. With a deep passion for cutting-edge dental technology and treatments, Dr. Seys is excited to bring advanced care to the Mapleton community she loves serving.
In 2018, the practice expanded to a beautiful new location at 102 Main St NE. Our modern treatment rooms feature large windows and a bright, open feel—designed to keep patients comfortable while maintaining privacy. We’d love to welcome you in for a tour!
As the practice continued to grow, Dr. Madsen joined in 2024, becoming an integral part of the team and the Mapleton community.

Samantha Seys, DMD
“Being a general dentist is a great honor—it allows me to care for people in many different ways. I truly enjoy all aspects of dentistry, which makes it hard to choose just one area to focus on. I’ve always been drawn to surgery and extractions, and more recently, I’ve developed a strong interest in pediatric growth and development.”
Dr. Seys is passionate about the evolving field of airway and sleep dentistry, which benefits both children and adults. This includes offering alternatives to CPAP therapy and addressing other airway-related concerns.
As part of her dedication to advanced care, Dr. Seys has received extensive training in tethered oral tissue (TOT) releases, commonly known as tongue-tie treatments. She works closely with local myofunctional therapists to provide comprehensive care. With the use of a COâ‚‚ laser, she’s able to perform precise, minimally uncomfortable releases at the highest standard of care.
She is also thrilled to now offer dental implant placement in-office. Utilizing guided surgery techniques, she ensures predictable, accurate outcomes with clear visualization of the bone and implant positioning—resulting in safer, more efficient procedures.
“All of these advances in dentistry are incredibly exciting, but honestly, I take just as much pride in a simple filling. There’s no area of dentistry that I don’t find stimulating!”
Dr. Seys lives just north of Mapleton, near the farm where she grew up and where her parents still live. She’s the proud mom of three young children who keep her on her toes! When not in the office, she enjoys traveling, staying active, and continuously pursuing new education to stay at the forefront of dental care.

Joel Madsen, DMD
In 2024, Dr. Madsen joined our practice and became a member of the Mapleton community. As a general dentist, he enjoys the variety of dental procedures required to solve dental problems and strives to provide excellent care in all areas of general dentistry.

Dr. Madsen chose dentistry because he saw the opportunity for a lifelong career in helping people improve their health and quality of life. He recognized the importance of a healthy mouth and smile and their positive impact on overall health. What he enjoys most about being a dentist is building lasting relationships with our patients, and he looks forward to many more years of being a trusted professional in the community.

After completing his undergraduate degrees in Biology and Biochemistry at the University of Minnesota Duluth, Dr. Madsen went on to a Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) degree from Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine in Illinois.

Dr. Madsen is happily married to his Wife, Karly, whom he met in Litchfield, MN, where they both grew up. When he is not treating Blue Earth and Mapleton Family Dental patients, Dr. Madsen spends his time hunting and fishing as often as possible. He also enjoys cheering on Minnesota sports teams, gardening, camping, hanging out with his dog, and spending time with friends and family.
